DSN SYSTEM ON ODBC
How To Set Up System DSN for Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Connection to SQL Server
Purpose: In order to retrieve the budget balance in CESB Indirect Material Purchase Requisition.
1. Go to Control Panel. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
2. Double click ODBC Data Sources (32bit) to open it.

3. Select the System DSN tab as shown below. You are going to add a system DSN – PRBudget.
4. Click at the Configure… button.

5. You will see the next screen as pre below:

a. Press Next > to continue. You will come to the below screen. Please follow as per below. Note that the password is case sensitive. Later, click on Client Configuration.
Login ID: Guest
Password: ___guest

Client Configuration

Select TCP/IP for the network libraries. If your screen is not as above, please refer to the below screen. The difference is due to the different version of the ODBC driver. Just accept the default setting for the connection parameters.

b . Press Next > to continue. If you face the connection failure as per below, please use the setting for Another version of the client configuration (as per above).

c. Select db_BMS from the list as shown below.

d. Press Next > and you’ll see the below screen.

e. Press Finish and a summary will be generated as shown in the sample below.

f. To test the data source just created, press the ‘Test Data Source…’ button. You will be able to see the below screen if you had successfully connected to the SQL server.

g. Press OK and you shall find the PRBudget in the System DSN listing as shown below. Click OK to complete.
